CONAN Super Detective Game

Some students who are about to graduate and become employees in organizations still lack skills in systems thinking and decision-making in problem-solving as a whole. The Detective Conan game is a visual novel 2D game in Python where one player acts as a detective, collecting evidence that will lead to the identity of the culprit. The purpose of this research was to use games as a tool to develop players' skills in systematic thinking in four skills: 1) observation skills and collecting evidence from surrounding contexts; 2) interview skills from witnesses of suspicious persons; 3) skills in examining and confirming witnesses, objects, and witnesses from criminals; and 4) skills in summarizing results from witnesses, objects, and witnesses. The results showed that the mean values for all 4 skills include: 1) skills in observing and collecting witnesses from the surrounding context (3.85, 4.15, and 4.70); 2) skills in interviewing suspicious witnesses (7.00, 9.40, and 10.40); 3) skills in examining and confirming witnesses of things and witnesses from criminals (7.15, 7.95, and 10.40); and 4) skills in drawing conclusions from witnesses of things and witnesses (18.00, 21.50, and 25.05). From the mean values, it was found that every skill tends to improve.
